Marshmallow root It's known for its mucilage content, a substance that becomes a slippery, protective gel when mixed with water. This mucilage is believed to be responsible for many of its purported benefits.
Digestive Health: Marshmallow root may support a healthy digestive system in several ways. Some believe it can strengthen the gut lining and prevent permeability, sometimes referred to as "leaky gut syndrome." The mucous lining of the intestines is naturally semi-permeable, but in some individuals, this lining may become overly permeable, potentially leading to uncomfortable gastrointestinal symptoms. Marshmallow root's mucilage may help soothe and protect the lining of the digestive tract. It has also been traditionally used to relieve heartburn, indigestion, and ulcers.
Respiratory Health: Marshmallow root may also offer benefits for respiratory health. It's thought to reduce inflammation in the airways, potentially helping to suppress coughs and soothe sore throats. Some herbalists have also used it to treat conditions like bronchitis and asthma, although more research is needed in these areas.
Urinary Tract Health: Marshmallow root has been used traditionally to support urinary tract health. It may increase urine flow and potentially reduce inflammation and discomfort associated with urinary tract infections (UTIs). Again, further scientific study is needed to confirm these traditional uses.
Cloves contain a volatile oil called eugenol that dissolves the casing around parasite eggs so that the herbs that kill them can do their job, so that the eggs aren't protected within the body. Inhibits growth and reproduction: Eugenol can inhibit the growth and reproduction of parasites it also prevents hatching
Steeping your Wormwood tea
Directions
Wormwood is best served cold
1. Measure the Wormwood: Use 1 teaspoon of dried wormwood leaves for each cup of tea you want to make.
2. Add Water: Place the wormwood leaves in a jar or pitcher and add cold water. Use about 8 ounces of water per teaspoon of wormwood.
3. Steep in the Fridge: Cover the jar or pitcher and place it in the refrigerator. Let it steep for about 8-12 mins. The longer it steeps, the stronger it will be.
4. Strain the Tea: After steeping, strain the tea to remove the wormwood leaves.
5. Add Sweetener (Optional): Since wormwood can be quite bitter, you might want to add a bit of honey or another sweetener to improve the taste.
6. Drink: Pour yourself a glass and enjoy your cold wormwood tea!
Remember to take it easy with wormwood since it's pretty strong stuff. Enjoy!
